PE: Missing AVCHD 1080p60/AVCHD 1080p50 Project Presets/Non-English Installed Programs

INTRODUCTION

Back in 2012 and Premiere Element 11, one of the top issues was the AVCHD 1080p60 and AVCHD 1080p50 project presets whose files were present in the program files, but which were not showing up under the list of project presets in the path File Menu/New/Project/New Project dialog's Change Settings/Change Settings dialog.

In 2012, users forum exchange of information* pointed to the issue being targeted at those using the non-English installed version. At that time, Adobe pointed to the cause of the problem as error in these project preset files in the program files and offered downloadable replacements for them. See the following Adobe document found HERE.

ISSUE

The link posted in 2012 by Adobe for troubleshooting this matter now opens to the Adobe document "Missing Presets" with a "Last Published" December 19, 2016 and "Applies to Premiere Elements". Again, refer to HERE.

Because of the "Last Published = December 19, 2016 and the generalized "Applies to = Premiere Elements" of that document, it was decided to explore just how far beyond Premiere Elements 11 this issue exists. Note: At the time of December 19, 2016, it is estimated that Premiere Elements 15 would be the current version (release in September/October of 2016).

COMMENTARY

As written previously, because of the "Last Published = December 19 2016" and the generalized "Applies to = Premiere Elements" of the Adobe Missing Presets document, it was decided to explore just how far beyond Premiere Elements 11 this issue exists. The quick first look at this question compared just the non-English installed Premiere Elements 11 and non-English installed Premiere Elements 2018 (current version). Result - Non-English installed Premiere Elements 11 was found to have the issue, and non-English installed Premiere Elements 2018 did not.

What about the versions in between 11 and 2018 (version 12/12.1, 13/13.1, 14/14.1, and 15)? This question was looked at in a limited study with these versions using Dutch (Nederlands) settings for the non-English install for Premiere Elements. In that study, no problem existed for AVCHD 1080p60 and AVCHDp50 project presets in Premiere Elements 12/12.1, 13/13.1, 14/14.1, and 15. Downloads for 12/12.1 and 13/13.1 were from HERE. And, downloads for 14/14.1 and 15 were from HERE.

Until confirmed with a more comprehensive study on the matter, it was concluded that the above suggests that the Adobe document for troubleshooting missing AVCHD 1080p60 and AVCHD 1080p50 project presets in the non-English install Premiere Elements applies only to Premiere Elements 11.

See footnote *****for some notes on additional AVCHD 1080p60 information and footnote****** for some additional general comment.

*Refer to forum thread titled "AVCHD 1080p50 not showing up in Premiere Elements 11" and dated November 17, 2012. In that thread, my contributions to that thread are found starting at post 27. Adobe's presence in that thread is found at posts 35 and 38. See HERE for those posts and the break though posts of forum ID VDOSurfer.
**Study done with Premiere Elements versions on Windows 10 Home 64 bit.
***Although English (International) and English (Universal) are included in the list of languages covered by the download, those specific names are not asked for in the download and installation settings.
****Emoji were used to designate Result: 😃 = no project preset issue and 😞 = project preset issue.
*****The AVCHD 1080p60 and AVCHD 1080p50 project presets appear to be a regular part of Premiere Elements starting with version 11 and continuing through the current version 2018. For the Premiere Elements 10 user and the AVCHD 1080p60 project preset, see ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting blog post which is titled "PE10: AVCHD 1080p60 Project Preset", dated November 24, 2014, and found HERE.
******Premiere Elements install from an Adobe download requires the download of 2 files (7z and exe) for Premiere Elements 11 and 12; whereas, only one file (exe) is required to install Premiere Elements 13, 14, 15, or 2018 from the download. The difference in the number of required downloaded installation files does not appear to impact the Missing Presets matter. Note that both 11 and 12 each use 2 downloaded installation files for the install, but the Missing Presets issue exists for 11 and not 12.

PE: Text Animation Add/Remove And More

INTRODUCTION

Premiere Elements Titler offers a Text Animation feature. Details of this Text Animation feature can be found in the ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting blog that is titled "PE: Titler - Part 1 Text Animation", dated July 15, 2013, and found HEREAlthough Premiere Elements 10 and 11 were used in that work, those Premiere Elements 11 details should be applicable to the Titler's Animation section in Premiere Elements later than version 11.

ISSUE

There exists online an Adobe document that is dated December 19, 2016 and titled "Unable to apply text animation presets to multi-line text|Premiere Elements".  See HERE. It was decided to point the reader to my 2013 blog which includes the details for applying text animation to more than one line of text all within one title file. That blog also contains many more helpful details for getting introduced to the Premiere Elements Titler's Text section and Animation section. Also, it was thought of interest to offer a reminder on how to remove one of these animations once it has been applied to the text.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

1. Reminder: Removal Of One Of These Animations Once It Has Been Applied To A Line Of Text

It is very important to remember the specific animation preset that was applied. When it comes to removal of one of the applied animation presets, the keys to success are:
  • Using the Selection Tool in the Text section of the Titler to select the line of text that contains the animation to be removed
  • With the line of text selected in the Titler's Text section, going to the Animation section of the Titler to click on/select the animation preset that was applied to the line of text and then to click on/select Remove button at to the bottom of the Titler's Animation section.
 2. Reminder: Titler's Animation Section's Categories And Presets

There are 6 categories of animation presets in Titler's Animation section, and they are named Fades, Move In and Out, Pan and Zoom, Slide, Special Effect, Twist and Turn. There is a total of 38 animation presets to choose from. The animation presets content in each of the 6 categories are as follows:

Fades

AngularFadeOut
FadeInByCharacters
FadeInByLine
FadeInCompress
FadeOutByLine
FadeOutCompress
WipeInToCenter

Move In and Out

DropInAndOutByCharacter
DropInByCharacter

FlyInFromBottom
FlyInWithTwist
FlyOutToBottom
ZigZagIn

Pan and Zoom

FocusIn

Slide

ShuffleInByCharacter
SlideInByCharacter

Twist and Turn

These categories of animation presets and their content appear to be the same in Premiere Elements 11 through to 2018.

PE: Video Format For iPad Products Revisited

INTRODUCTION

Premiere Elements created video compatible with the iPad Air is addressed in the ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting blog that is titled "PE: PE Video to iPad and iPad to PE", dated April 25, 2016, and found HERE. The following footnote in that work pointed out
Study was done with iPad Air (WiFi Only, 16 GB), iTunes version 12.3.3.17 64 bit, Premiere Elements 14/14.1, Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit; however, principles involved should be guardedly applicable to other Apple mobile devices and Premiere Elements versions.
More recently, using closely the details in that 2016 work, I successfully imported my homemade H.264.mp4 (1920 x 1080p30)/AAC Stereo movie into the same iPad Air using current Premiere Elements 2018 and current  iTunes version 12.8.0.150 64 bit.

ISSUE

In the Google blog owner section here, I recently saw a reader search entry related to "Premiere Elements format for iPad Mini 4 video". Although I do not have the iPad Mini 4, I thought it might be helpful as a starter to point the Premiere Elements user with the iPad Mini 4 to my April 25, 2016 iPad work cited in the INTRODUCTION above. Based on the concept of "guardedly applicable to other Apple mobile devices and Premiere Elements versions", that blog post information should be helpful and be worth a look at.

COMMENTARY

The following iPad Mini 4 video specifications were found in the Apple document found HERE.

Video formats supported: H.264 video up to 4K, 30 frames per second, High Profile level 4.2 with AAC‑LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio or Dolby Audio up to 1008 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo or multichannel audio, in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG‑4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC‑LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio or Dolby Audio up to 1008 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo or multichannel audio, in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M‑JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format

If and when a iPad Mini 4 becomes available to me, I will seek to confirm the iPad Mini 4 information with hands on data and than with inferred information.

As always, work continues in progress to confirm accuracy of the information provided.
