PE: Closing Rolling Credits Ideas

INTRODUCTION

One Adobe document on creating titles in Premiere Elements can be found HERE. Of special interest (not addressed in that document) is taking the closing rolling credits beyond the typical closing rolling credits' text (fonts). This special interest developed as a results of our viewing and getting caught up in the closing and opening titling for Chinese, South Korean, and Hindi movies. In the film industry, often these closing rolling credits inserts are designed for display of what happens to the film's characters after their story has been depicted in the film. Also filming "outtakes" are often in the inserts.

ISSUE

Although most of us are not creating movies for the film industry, our Premiere Elements home movies can still borrow some of the movie industry's ideas to enhance our home movies closing rolling credits.
A plan was developed to explore and experiment with the idea of creating a closing rolling credit insert consisting of the homemade movie's related photos which display with a page peeling sequential look in the insert as the closing rolling credits move on off the screen. To this end, a sample homemade movie was created to showcase the wanted Page Peel effect for the closing rolling credit insert.

ISSUE

A Page Peel transition was found in Premiere Elements, but not a ready to use Page Peel fx effect. Use of the Page Peel transition as a Page Peel effect for the insert failed because the Page Peel applied to the full frame photo followed the full frame and not the scaled down photo in the project's frame dimensions. Refer to Figure 1 and Figure 2.

SOLUTION

Goal
A closing rolling credit insert consisting of the homemade movie's related photos which display with a page peeling sequential look.

Solution
Timeline full frame jpg photos (duration 5 seconds) with Page Peel transition (duration 5 seconds) applied to each photo was exported as H.264.mp4* video which was subsequently imported** into Premiere Elements movie project where it could be resized and used for the closing rolling credit  insert. See closing rolling credit insert in the following homemade movie created to showcase this closing credit insert idea.

COMMENTARY

The Premiere Elements 2018 Expert workspace Timeline setup for the homemade movie is shown in Figure 3.

Although this work was done with Premiere Elements 2018 Windows with this Hostas Plant theme, the principles involved should be applicable to other themes using other versions of Premiere Elements.

Work continues in progress.
