PE 15: Update For Changing Projects Settings Without Starting A New Project

INTRODUCTION

Typically it is written that the project settings set for a Premiere Elements project cannot be changed after the project has been started, without having to start a new project. This situation is described in my May 23, 2015 blog post and points to Premiere Elements 11, 12, and 13. See HERE. The following excerpt from that blog post sums up the situation as it existed up to 2015 and Premiere Elements 13.

Changing The Project Preset For The Project After The Source Media Have Been Imported And Editing The Timeline Content Is In Progress

Typically it is written that, if incorrect project settings are realized after the project is begun, the user has to start a new project to correct the situation. For Premiere Elements 11 and 12/12.1 we have found a way, in some cases, to change these project settings without having to start a new project. This is done by editing the Notepad document of the save project file (.prel).

It was not found possible to apply this approach to Premiere Elements 13/13.1 project due to the coding that presented in the Notepad document of the saved Premiere Elements 13/13.1 project file.

ISSUE

Moving forward to 2017 and version 15, the latest version of Premiere Elements, it appears that 13/13.1, 14/14.1, as well as 15, fall into the same condition, that is, it was not found possible to apply this approach to Premiere Elements 13/13.1, 14/14.1, or 15 project due to the coding that presents in the Notepad document of the saved Premiere Elements 13/13.1, 14/14.1, or 15 project file.

SOLUTION

I have not yet found a solution to this issue for Premiere Elements 13/13.1, 14/14.1, or 15*. I will continue to explore the topic and research any developments online by others who can read the Notepad documents for Premiere Elements 13/13.1, 14/14.1, or 15.

*Although work was done using Premiere Elements on Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit (Notepad, WordPad), findings should also apply to Windows 10 64 bit which was found also to offer Notepad and WordPad under Start Menu/Windows Accessories. (Windows 10 Home 64 bit was the actual computer.)

PE 15: Program Installed From Adobe Disc Or Adobe Download?

INTRODUCTION

Frequently the question arises as to whether or not the installed Premiere Elements program is the same if it is installed using the Adobe disc instead of the Adobe download. Keep in mind that, at this time, Adobe direct sells only the download version which is marketed as full featured (trial or purchase); whereas the program on Adobe disc as well as a downloaded version can be purchased from 3rd party vendors. Typically, the question of disc versus download install is answered by the reply that the installed program is same from either type of install.

One scenario that causes this type of question relates to user with a computer which does not come with a DVD drive. Another scenario may involve the user who wants the same program on desktop with DVD drive and, at the same time, on a second computer that does not come with DVD drive.

Be it Adobe Premiere Elements 15 DVD disc or the Adobe Premiere Elements 15 download, operating system support is for Windows 7 SP1, 8, or 10 64 bit (32 bit systems no longer supported) or Mac with 64 bit multicore Intel processor including operating system information Mac OSX 10.10 or 10.11 or 10.12.
Note: Photoshop Elements 15/Premiere Elements 15 combo box packaging gives the Mac OSX 10.10 or 10.11. Adobe Premiere Elements 15 download page is not specific. Adobe Premiere Elements 15 System Requirements online document includes Mac OSX 10.12 as well as 10.10 or 10.11.

ISSUE

Language availability for a Premiere Elements version's DVD disc versus download should be considered for Premiere Elements Windows or Mac. See HERE. This focus will use Premiere Elements 15 and data from the Adobe Premiere Elements 15 download and the Adobe Premiere Elements 15 DVD disc which was purchased as part of a Photoshop Elements15/Premiere Elements 15 combo box packaged from a USA consumer electronics retailer.

COMMENTARY

At this time, time permitted the above observations for only Premiere Elements 15 Windows and the program's sources cited. I do not have a Mac computer; consequently any Mac information is taken from what I have read.

*Important Note August 28, 2017. Use of Premiere Elements 15 disc for program installation today appears to include the language options for the following now whereas they were not seen in this earlier work with this same DVD disc installation source and computer.

Korean 한국어
Work in progress to explain this mystery.
